OUR METALS

MOLYBDENUM

Molybdenum (also known as “Moly”) has an extremely high melting temperature of 2620°C. It retains tensile strength at temperatures above 1000°C, exhibits a low coefficient of thermal expansion and good electrical conductivity properties which are favorable for creating molybdenum components and assemblies for the electronic, semiconductor and lighting industries. Sylhan can machine molybdenum parts based on your specifications.

TUNGSTEN

Tungsten has an extremely high melting point (3400°C). The refractory metal is often used in the lighting industry due to its high heat tolerance and electrical resistivity. The metal is very strong and durable and also has a high density, making it an ideal material for a variety of aerospace applications, including counterweights and nozzles.

TANTALUM

Tantalum has a high melting temperature of 3000°C, and its properties make it ideal for sputtering targets in the semiconductor and electronics industries. Tantalum is considered very ductile over a wide range of temperatures which makes it very challenging to machine. Sylhan has over 40 years experience machining tantalum.

OUR PROCESS

01 QUOTATION

Our Manufacturing Engineering team will review and confirm all drawings and contractual requirements to determine procurement and manufacturing methodology.

02 CONTRACT REVIEW

Engineering, production, and our quality teams go through a thorough review of drawings, digital models, and customer contracts to confirm a production and quality plan for the product.

03 MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING

Once the production and quality requirements are established, Manufacturing Engineering team creates a production part plan in our ERP system documenting all purchasing, subcontractor, manufacturing, and quality requirements.

04 ORDER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Our production team will send an official acknowledgement to the customer confirming all contract requirements including price and delivery.

05 PRODUCTION PLANNING

Once the production part plan is established in ERP and the order is Acknowledged to the customer, we utilize our robust metal sourcing capabilities to procure raw materials that meet or exceed industry standards.

06 QUALITY ASSURANCE

We utilize our robust quality management systems, which go beyond AS9100 requirements, to ensure all our products meet or exceed customers’ specifications and requirements.
